Rigged....almost done now!

Silverminken is now rigged, yesterday the only remaining bits and pieces were the leads for the furler etc. The plan is to have her ready to sail today! Weather reports 4-8 knots in the area (bummer), but outside it is already blowing more than that so maybe we'll get lucky?

Some of the recent shots on the water...hit the title for more.

Got some diesel filled so we are ready to take her out.

Looks like we are going to have to find some creative fix for the backstay. It runs with blocks under the tiller (6:1) and an exposed block (making it 12:1).  However, the hidden mounting of the blocks is not good - the fit is too tight so there is friction between the rope and the deck. Sail testing will tell us:

  1. If a 12:1 backstay is enough (I doubt it)
    1. If not - how much space is there for more rope and blocks if still mounted hidden
    2. If it is - can we adjust the mount to remove the friction
  2. How she sails with the A-4 (to my knowledge this has never been tested irl on a 310)
  3. How the new sails suit the boat
  4. Whether or not we need to make rudder adjustments on the twin rudders (probably more like "how much off are we")
All in all we are probably on track for the delivery date, save some paperwork.

One neat thing is that on this boat we are using Antal low-friction fairleads for the tackline and barbers instead of blocks. This is pretty cool - it will be very interesting to see how this works in practice.

Here is the tackline fairlead.

Here is the barber lead.

Also, all lines are from Gottifredi Maffioli! That is so awesome!
