New Elan movie from Düsseldorf

Selecting spinnaker colors....

...ahh...the luxury of ordering a new chute. :)

Talked to North today after their boat handling seminar and started discussing the colors for the medium/heavy spinnaker. Choices, choices.

First chute will be 0.9 superkote with some additional strength added so we don't blow it out the first season, then we'll see what to add next....hehe.

Elan in Düsseldorf

Here's a picture, courtesy of Seilmagasinet, of the 310 which is displayed in Düsseldorf. Counting down the days....

Instrument placement

The 310 only has room for three instruments on the hatch roof, and the default is that one of those places is occupied by the compass. This means that in order to get the instruments I want (wind, tridata, graphics x 2) I need to find a creative solution. I could go for mast instruments, but that means more wires through the mast, longer wire distances and more expensive instruments. Another way I could go, is to change where the compass is (move it down next to the engine controls), and get three instruments on the hatch roof, and then mount the autopilot control and additional st60+ graphics facing aft on the cockpit benches. I got the yard to go with the latter option.

Now if I could only find a good way to have a plotter accessible in the cockpit with equally good visibility from both tacks....

Elan 310 in Düsseldorf

The big boat show in Düsseldorf is under way, and the 310 is presented in hall 14 stand C39 for those privileged visitors.

Elan is present in hall 17 stand A20.

Aft cabin lockers

Many people have wondered about what the aft removable lockers look like, and the best picture I could find is here (courtesy of val navtika):

As you can see, it is a double locker with pushbuttons (like the other lockers/shelves) and can be completely removed for racing by unscrewing a few bolts (by hand). Quite neat, really.
